Finally it looks like Summer, come out and Play

Last Saturday we had a great day and a nice group of players came out and battled on the green clay of Diversey. It looks like we have a great weekend of weather ahead of us so make the trek and play some tennis, remember summer is short.

It looks like the weather has turned and from now on through the Summer we should be able to get in lots of tennis, so come on out, if in doubt about weather call the courts at 312-742-7821.

June 12 Come out and Play

We are still planning on playing, weather is a little dicey but so far so good, if it rains the courts need a few hours to dry so if in doubt call the courts at 312-742-7821.

If it doesn't rain anymore or just lightly the courts will be a go by 5, I will be there unless there is another torrential downpour, at least it is warm out! Remember since these are clay courts they are playable even when it rains, they do reach a point of saturation where they start to puddle, then they are unplayable but that is only after a reasonably heavy rain.

In a holding pattern, check back in a bit

The rain has stopped so tennis may be a go tonight but check back mid-afternoon or call the courts at 312-742-7821 for an update, generally if it rains hard 3-4 hours are needed to dry out.

No Mixer this Friday, Saturday at 5 as usual

Due to a special event at the Diversey Courts there will be no tennis this Friday, however Saturday goes on as usual and remember there is a clinic at 4pm too.

A Great Weekend of Tennis!

We had the best weather of the season so far and had great tennis and turnouts along with great BBQ on Saturday. It has been challenging weather so far so I hope we can stay dry on the weekends after our week of toil, we deserve it after all!

Come out Friday and on Saturday come out for a BBQ

This Friday come out for a good night of tennis from 6-8 and on Saturday from 5-7:30. On Saturday we are going to include a BBQ with chicken, brats, burgers and more. Remember the clinic at 4pm on Saturday.

On June 4 due to a special event at the Diversey Courts we will play down at Grant Park.

May 22 Mixer recap

Saturday May 22 was a beautiful day to be outside and we had a nice turnout for the Tennis Mixer, hopefully a good omen for the rest of our summer season.

May 21 Friday is a go as of 12:30pm

Once again the weather is challenging but so far things are dry and actual rays of sunshine have been spotted but if in doubt call the courts before coming out at 312-742-7821.

Recap May 14, Mixer and Clinic Sat. May 15

Our inaugural Spring Mixer finally was held last night and a good time was had, today we are a go hopefully the clouds are just that and no more. I will be hosting a clinic at 4 and the Mixer goes on at 5.

May 14, Lookin' Good

Friday May 14 the weather is sunny and might get a bit cool for standing around but if you are on the court movin', serving, hittin' you should be quite warm, so come on out and play!

Weekend Recap, Ugh

Once again we got cancelled but instead of just mere rain, we got hailed upon! Our friend Tak and his group got their party in from 2-4 complete with BBQ and a nice group that was sending off their friend Ses to new adventures in Florida, but it was cold and drizzled a bit which since the courts are clay didn't matter too much but then it finally hailed and that was that. We now shoot for next weekend and hope that are baseball teams and the weather warm up a bit.

Friday May 7 Cancelled due to Weather Conditions

The decision has been made to close the courts down as of 2pm today due to inclement conditions. Let's hope for better conditions tomorrow so we can get started on the 2010 outdoor season.

Free Golf Sort Of!

I will be working at the Fresh Meadow Driving Range this season and any one of you who makes it out there I will give you a free basket of balls to whale away at. But don't just show up, please contact me first so if I am not there they will know what is going on.

Reboot, First Mixers This Friday and Saturday Plus Clinic

Due to the threatening weather last Saturday(which then turned out beautifully,oh well) the First Mixer of the Season will be Friday the 7th from 6-8 and of course Saturday the 8th from 5-7-7:30. I will be hosting a Clinic from 4-5 on Saturday for all that want to tune up their games.

Let there be Tennis!

Today kicks off the first Mixer of the Season at the Diversey Tennis Center and let's hope that it stays dry. The temperature is good much warmer than last year and while it is overcast if it stays this way it is quite suitable for some good tennis.

Mixers, Clinics, Cookouts and More

This is the 1st post and is somewhat of a test so I hope this blog makes communication easier for what is going on in Chicago tennis or at least my little part of it. The Friday and Saturday Mixers at the Diversey Tennis Center will begin April 30/May 1 weather of course permitting. I will have clinic schedule set up so check back. I am learning how to work this blog so I want to have comments as I welcome feedback and new ideas on how to do things better.
